Best Upcoming Building Developments for Salt Lake

It would seem, that Salt Lake City is on the cusp of building boom. Right now, many new apartment and condo buildings are being built around the downtown area, helping with infill, walkability and creating a truly modern, urban, city center. There are many things fighting against truly great new developments in SLC though, some of these are the 30 year tear down culture, where instead of building with quality materials that last, developers build with materials that look cheap and don’t last a long time, by no means do these types of development add to the stigma of a cities greatness, urban style, or enchantment. Without going into further details, these are some of the upcoming developments in SLC that we are excited about.

Regent Street Hotel
Work is to begin once the 111 South and UPAC building, along with the Regent St revitalization is complete. We can’t wait for this development to begin as it looks like a perfect blend of old and new and will bring some density and walkability to the city center. It’s to be part hotel and part condos. Screen Shot 2016-06-30 at 11.43.50 AM

CCH Hotel (Convention Center Hotel)
This development has taken years to even talk about. It’s disappointing development hasn’t even begun. This building is a huge deal to SLC, as it’s tied to bringing in and catering to SLC’s conventions, it would allow for more, and bigger, conventions to come to town, and be an economic boon. Let’s hope this hotel offers at least 1000 rooms, rumor is that it won’t, because local hoteliers are throwing their weight around. Instead of long-term, these hoteliers are all about short term, selfish gains. No images available for this development.

151 Tower
Boyer is to develop this skyscraper once they get around 60% pre-lease office space. It’s a good looking building. Let’s hope demand is high so they add a few more levels. It’s to be located at 151 South State in downtown SLC.

Air Hotel
Much talked about, and consistently the design has changed, the word has been silent on this development for the past 6 months, but these things take time. Air Hotel will be a mix use development with condos, hotel rooms, roof top pool, bar and lounge and more.

Vivint Smarthome Arena remodel
Instead of tearing down the old arena, Vivint is moving forward with a plan to remodel and partially redevelop. This will bring more about more street engagement and hopefully a sports bar and cafe, etc.  No images available at this time.

Fairpark Stadium
The Utah State Fair Park will be the home of the Days of 47 Rodeo, and other such events. This building looks promising and has a spanish bull ring feel to it.
